Kinion’s return to the Oklahoma Insurance Department in 2022 to lead its captive division has coincided with a revitalisation in the state as a captive domicile. With the reboot of the state’s captive insurance association and the formation of new captives and management firms, the state was one of the fastest growing in last year’s World Domicile Update, and much of this can be put down to the confidence fellow professionals have in Kinion. The state was rewarded with being named Domicile of the Year (Less than $5bn GWP) at the 2024 Captive Review US Awards. Kinion’s experience and vocal advocacy for the 831(b) industry during a challenging period is further evidence of his value to captive insurance.
